Working Abroad
The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead request to work abroad is the following:
- Permanent arrangements for working abroad, are not approved on legality reasons.
- Temporary arrangements are only considered for exceptional circumstances, (a maximum period of 4 weeks, limiting to professional duties only)
- Equipment and any access to council systems will not work until the approval process is complete.
- Before completing the Working Abroad Request Form, you must read the following council policies:

Submission Process
Employees must complete and submit the Working Abroad Request Form with sufficient notice before travelling. The form is available via the "I Need To" link on the council intranet.
Approval Process:
- Approval is directed to either your Line Manager or the Data Protection Officer, depending on your travel destination.
- Notifications are sent to your Line Manager and Assistant Director.
Post-Approval:
- If approved, an automated helpdesk ticket is raised.
- HR and IT Services are notified and will complete necessary checks within a 7-day SLA.
Rejected Request:
- If declined, the requester will receive a rejection email with no further action taken.
Notification and Outcomes
To ensure visibility and timely action all requests are stored in the Working Abroad SharePoint list for auditing, reporting and governance tracking.
