Go to Settings > Apps > Maps > Permissions > Location
Here you will have several options, select “Allow only while using the App”.
Click on the back ß until you get back to the Settings page and close it down.
Now go into Google Maps, choose a location and you will get a message asking if you allow access, click on Allow and then you will get your directions.
